The founding team of Metropolitan Capital Solutions is composed of Waldemar Maj, Piotr Romanowski and Wojtek Stankiewicz. Each of our Partners brings more than a decade of first hand corporate experience in advisory, management and transactions to the table. While each of them has accumulated broad experience across many industries and functions, their focal areas complement each other, allowing Metropolitan to serve our Clients in an unsurpassed way.

Our Partners have completed more than 200 advisory projects over the last decade. They have served Polish mid-size firms alongside leading global corporations. They have crafted and implemented growth strategies and built new businesses, restructured operations and cut costs, arranged financing and led M&A transactions – all this across more than 20 markets globally.

Our Partners draw on the support of a wide network of managers, associates and analysts to assist them in serving Clients. As each project calls for a particular mix of skills and experience, in each case our team is carefully selected from a wide pool of available experts – at Metropolitan there is no “one size fits all”.

Waldemar Maj

Waldemar Maj has 15 years of experience in banking, industry, and government. He worked over 10 years in banking in USA and Poland, raising capital for investment projects in emerging markets and turning around commercial banks in Poland. He worked for IFC/World Bank in Washington, D.C. and was Vice-President of BGŻ Bank S.A./Rabobank Group and President of DZ Bank Polska S.A. in Poland. His last position was Vice-President and the CFO of PKN Orlen S.A., a Fortune Global 500 company. He was also an Advisor to the Minister of Finance in the early nineties, engaged in the transformation process to market economy. Waldemar speaks English, German, French, and Russian. Waldemar is an MBA graduate from Harvard Business School and holds a Ph.D. in Physics.

Piotr Romanowski has over 10 years of professional experience in management consulting and banking. Piotr was a partner at McKinsey & Company. His primary focus was financial services in Central Eastern Europe where he supported clients on issues of strategy, restructuring and corporate finance. Piotr‘s consulting experience also covers oil & petrochemicals, where he supported the two largest post merger integration efforts in Central Europe, health care and pharmaceuticals. Piotr was the Executive Director of the Corporate Banking Division at Bank Pekao S.A. and Board Member in charge of Corporate Banking Division at Bank Millennium S.A. Piotr speaks fluent English and Russian. Piotr holds a PhD in molecular biology from the University of Cambridge, UK and an MD degree.

Wojtek Stankiewicz has 15 years of experience in strategy and growth, restructuring and profit improvement, as well as M&A, acquired while working for McKinsey & Company in Poland, CEE, US and the Middle East, as the second most senior Polish partner. Wojtek has served a broad spectrum of clients, multinationals and local mid-size enterprises alike, primarily across telecom, banking, consumer goods, retail and transportation. As McKinsey’s corporate finance leader in Poland, he has led two recent high profile privatizations. Recently, he has acquired an infrastructure start-up and set up a real estate investment fund. Wojtek holds an MA in Economics and an MBA from INSEAD and speaks fluent English and German, with working knowledge of French and Spanish.
